An access log is a text file that contains a full list of all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a site visitor opens only the home page, for example, you may find numerous files inside the log. This is because there are things on the home page that are embedded - parts of other webpages, images, etc. All these files will be listed in the access log, allowing you to get a detailed picture of the way your site functions. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently termed "raw data" as well. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, and also the user’s IP address, web browser and Operating System. More information, including the referrer site, is usually provided too. A log file could be processed by various desktop applications for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats provided by your server.
Access Log Manager in Web Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. Once you sign in to your web hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your computer and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer require one, you could stop it with simply a click from the same section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to activate or disable the generation of access logs with no more than several clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You will find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a click on the On button you'll see there. The feature can be triggered independently for any site regardless of whether it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find the complete list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you can then view it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation may be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
